The Toronto Islands

On Saturday we went to the Toronto Islands. We have this great system worked out. There is a parking lot just down the road from the ferry docks. We park there for $5.00 and unload the bikes. My bike has Q's on the back, Arnold's bike has K's trail-a-bike and the bike trailer attached. It's about as long as a bus!

We get out onto the walkway and use the crosswalks to change to the proper side of the street to bike on. We bike down and we are good to go!

The ferry is about 19.00 for us to go (Arnold, Kyler, Quinton and myself). We take the ferry over and I stay on the bottom with the bike and Kyler and Quinton go up and check out things on the top. We get off and head out!

Saturday was also the Dragon Boat races so it was busy. I'm glad we went as early as we did (we were on the 8:30am ferry). We got there and went to the middle area and did our first bike ride. We rode to one side and did our loop (about 6.25km) and back. Then we got to play in the beach. It was great until about 5 minutes of downpour! Everyone left and we were already wet so we hung out!!

After the break at the beach and playing in the playground we headed to our next leg of the trip (about 4.25) going to the other side of the island. We did the 10.5kms in 33 minutes and 22 seconds (with the break in between.

It was a great practice ride! I'm glad I did it!

We had lunch and played in the water park after. There were lots of groups coming around doing their warm ups for the Dragon Boat races. Q and K were watching them as we packed up and started doing with the team members were. It was too cute.

Here are some photos from our trip:
