Here's a post that Arnold made to some friends of ours the night Kyler was born:
kyler's face has been shown, he was born at 10:33 pm mountain time.
he is a health 6 pounds 5 ounces, and 19.25 inches long he was born by C-section
Miranda and Kyler are both doing well.
pictures will be posted in the morning after I get some sleep.
the birth was quite good, when they pulled him out, he had the cord around his neck (three times) and had some trouble with his first breaths but caught on pretty quick. They have him in the nursery for observation and he is doing fine.
hope that is enough for now
Welcome Kyler Richard John Visser to the big bright world!!!!
New father, Arnold
I still can't believe my very first baby is now 5 years old. Reading over my thoughts from that first week really show me how far I have come as a mother and how far Kyler has come as my sweet little boy.
When he was born he has some problems eating. Nursing wasn't the most easy thing for him at the beginning but I swear if you saw him now you would never know he had problems eating. Kyler eats like crazy. Here is a bit about my 5 year old boy:
*He loves the words "Actually" "either" (which sounds more like eber)
*His most check out book from the library is anything to do with space. His teacher, Mr. Brown, did a few weeks at the beginning of the year all about space and since they Kyler can't get enough.
*I know it's obvious but Kyler loves his brother (only sibling right now). He would do anything for Quinton
*He loves school and all of his friends (think the song - ...My friends are your friends and your friends are my friends...)
*Kyler sleeps on the top bunk
*He fits into 5 clothes or Smalls. He needs the 5 length but the waist is still too large so he has to have the adjustable ones.
*His favourite store is Walmart or Costco, depending on the day and who has the best samples.
*His newest love of movies is Mickey Mouse, Veggie movies, and Adventures in Odyssey
*His favourite colour is blue
*He loves the Toronto Maple Leafs (see photos from yesterday)
*His bath time is one of his favourite parts of his day. Lately he has been leaving me surprises (I'll post about this later)
*If is hair gets too long (by his standards) he will let you know he wants it cut.
*He hates to wash his hair (and debates with Daddy on when it was last done and if it is too soon to do it again)
*He loves to bike. He would rather be out biking if there was an option between anything and biking in the summer/warm weather.
*He will do anything Daddy does, or at least try to do it.
*He loves to play pretend. Lately being a baby or a puppy or some sort of animal
*He has finally reached size 1 shoes! I can't believe he is getting that big
*He can not go a day without playing with his duplo. He makes anything and everything with them.
*He feels left out if you do anything and make it sound like fun. Even if it wasn't and he wouldn't have fun he still feels left out
*His favourite thing about Mommy and Daddy being gone is he gets a babysitter. He Loves all of his babysitters, Trevor, Rachel and Taz.
*He really enjoys church. He would rather be upstairs with Auntie Jaime and Mr Mike but he loves being downstairs on Sunday mornings with his teachers.
*He likes to eat noodles, esp since he figured out how to suck up the noodles!
*He loved the Olympics. His favourite part was watching the hockey games
*He enjoys dancing, but not when Mommy dances with him. I guess I'm not hip enough!
*He picked up skating these past few months and loves it a lot. He would rather skate than nap, but then again who wouldn't?
*He likes to 'win' everything. We are trying to get him to be 'faster' on things instead of being a 'loser' if someone is faster than him.
*His favourite thing to do on the Internet is check the weather
*He loves reading. He loves to get new library books as well as reading and re-reading the ones in our house.
*He won't look at the camera unless you pressure him or threaten him... brings a whole new meaning to my photos hey?
*He doesn't adjust to change very well. Although he can do it it's not something that he is very good with
*He loves being big enough to get into his car seat and click in.
*He went to the CN Tower for his birthday this year and loved it
*He thinks it's funny to make his brother come out of their bedroom at night, right after being put to bed, and ask for things. It's almost like making sure it's ok for one child to come out so the second one can as well
*He loves to help set the table for eating lunch or supper
*He started to take sandwiches to school for his snacks last month. He is getting so big.
*He hates socks.
*He has started to have nightmares lately, about bees.
*He loves to have visitors. Every morning he asks who is coming over or where are we going.
*He has his own e'mail account
*He likes to do 'homework' HA! Wait until he gets older
*He got his own bank account this past year
*He is very excited to be "one WHOLE hand!"
*He owns more DUPLO blocks than anyone I know
*He loves to play with play dough
*He can count to 100.
*He had sparklers this year on his cake and tried to blow them out (super cute!)
*He has this cute imaginary voice, it's super high and super annoying but rather cute.
*His typical lunch is 4 pieces of meat, 4 pieces of cheese, some sort of bread product (bread, crackers, ect) and some pickles
*He is getting really good at using the computer. Arnold has games on his computer and Kyler loves to play them.
*At night Kyler must have a flashlight, vitamin and a book in bed.
*He loves taking photos. This past National Tinfoil Day he got a new digital camera and he loves taking photos with it.
*He is loved
My yearly letter:
Dear Kyler,
I know what you are thinking, you are finally 1 whole hand. It's very exciting. This year you can go on more rides, do more things and be more. Everything is more lately. You love your life but always seem to want more or something else out of it.
I don't think I have ever seen you any happier when we moved from our house on Ellington to our campsite for this past summer. You were so excited to have your own 'new house' and live in nature. You worked really hard that summer helping Mommy keep things clean, work and play outside and most of all to have a lot of fun. You showed your brother how to pee on trees, chase and scare frogs and to play soccer in a field as big as 4 campsites. You learned to make friends in such a short time and to say goodbye even faster as most of them were only there for a short time. You were such an inspiration to even Mommy by always wanting to do something fun.
When we moved into our first house on Bertha you were excited to have 2 floors! Equally excited to see that there was a bath tub (since there wasn't one at the campsite). You enjoyed every moment there, including when you realized you not only had a bedroom you shared with your brother but you also got to have a play room! All of your toys in one room. It was the coolest thing ever. You really enjoyed knowing that you were going to school.
In September you stated school at a different school than we thought. You began school with Mr Brown and about 21 other JK's and SK's. You were excited to have a backpack, to wear your sweater that Grandma made for you and to have so many friends. It took a bit to understand most of their names but you enjoyed it and still do. You had a field trip for the first time to see lots of farm animals and got to ride on a big kid bus. You also took a few days off of school to visit with Grandma Visser from Alberta in September.
Once Christmas vacation came you were surprised to take some time off school but it was ok since you spent most of it at Nana and Papa's house with Quinton and Amber. You came home to an almost empty house and began the moving process once again. You moved into a new smaller house but were just as happy because this time you got to have a spare bed in your room.
You also were allowed to go to Kids Klub at church on Wednesday nights. You look after your little brother so well. You love to hang out with Auntie Jaime and Mr. Mike. It's even cooler when Joshua is there. You love to play the games and to make the crafts and to learn a Bible story. It takes a few days for it to sink in but on Friday you tell us all about the story, with some things from your own thoughts added in.
You love to pretend. One of my favourite things is to listen in on your pretend games and conversations with your brother. You two talk in a super high voice and have a great time. You two always seem to surprise me with what kinds of pretend play you come up with.
After talking about it for 2 years you finally got to go to the CN Tower. We had a lot of fun hanging out and checking out the view. Nana and Papa came with us and we had lunch in a restaurant where you could see the Toronto Island Airport. It was the highlight of the trip watching those planes go in and land and take off again. When we got back you were so excited about your day you couldn't nap. I will never forget the look on your face all day long. You were so happy.
My baby, I just want you to know how much I love you. You have changed so much this year. You are no longer my little boy you are my little man. You have attitude problems, teacher interviews, and a never ending surprise factor. I love you so much. It is so hard to believe that you have become such a wonderful man who loves God, his family and his friends. I trust that God will bless you this year more than ever.
Love always and forever
Mommy
XOXO
