March Break Day #1 - Sunday

I'll start around the time we left. Arnold, Papa and Kyler packed the car up and got us all ready to go then we headed out after waving bye to Nana and Papa as they stayed out of the rain. The kids were super excited as we left. Our van turned into it's 'old' shape for a while. The bench seat has Kyler and Amber in it and the one captains chair has been taken out. Q is on the other captains chair and loves the extra space.

For Great-Grandpa's birthday the kids got 'grab bags' from Nana and Papa they are these cute things that you use to grab things with. The kids call them their punchers. You squeeze your hand while holding onto the lever thingy then it squeezes this claw at the end. I'm sure they will be in photos later this week. But yeah the kids played with those for HOURS! But to add to our excitement first...

I forgot my coat and wallet!!!! Nana called and after a few more quick phone calls we figure out where we were and pulled off (not that far, we were at Reece's corner). We did a bathroom break and waited. It didn't take long but during that time the kids found a little hole in the braces holding the windows and Amber thought she should check out what kinds of "ants" made the whole.. in went each finger and out came black ones! She got something like tar stuck on her hands. We quickly went off to the washroom, hand in the air, hoping to get it off but nothing worked in the washroom. So we just waited for it to dry. We found Nana and popped back into the car and went on our way.

We did stop for lunch, around 1pm at Wendy's at the rest stop. Everyone got out and we ran inside from the rain and had lunch. There was almost no one there ** and note to anyone driving from Sarnia to Ingersoll the rest stop there is closed as of the end of the month for renovations ** but it was perfect. The lady working at the till at Wendy's managed to find me some rubbing alchol pads and we went to work on Ambers fingers. The black all came off, except what was under the finger nails but so far so good. Then we all got back into the car and headed out for the rest of our trip.

After about 30 minutes or so we heard a "I have to pee! I have to pee in the grass!!" Only my boy! We pulled over and double checked that only Q had to pee, which is when Kyler said HE had to pee as well but Amber assured us she didn't have to pee and didn't want to pee in the grass and out went the boys. Arnold took Q outside and had him pee on the trailer's tire (yes we were pulling the trailer) and then K ran out and peed on the tire as well (they were *very* excited about this part. It was alot of fun for them. We got everyone back in and buckled in and we headed back for the rest of the trip.

We arrived in Toronto around 4pm and got everyone inside. We made it clear that Amber got first dibs on the bathroom. Then it was a free-for-all. The boys and Amber played inside and Arnold and I brought the trailer into the driveway and got everything unpacked from the van. We put the one captain's chair in the landing for the basement apartment, this gives me a bit more room for this weekend.

I got inside and started laundry, LOTS of laundry. I really need to learn to stay up late the night before and do lots of it at my parents house... that or leave some there! But I started it and realized I had maybe enough soap for one more load of laundry so off we went. We found Amber's running shoes, cut off her pants (hope you don't mind B, but they are WAY too long and she has a hole in them anyway) and got everyone into their winter coats (thanks mom for fixing Q's) and we were off. We went to No Frills (the grocery store Q and I walk to in the mornings after dropping K off at school) and picked up 3 containers of Sunlight - thanks to coupons - for 6.99. I love them. It was those 64 loads one and works great! Plus it's nice to have a change every once and a while. We walked home with the kids (carrying Q some of the way since he wouldn't bring his gloves) and I started supper.

We had snagged some crescent rolls from my parents house (the Pillsbury ones) and made hot dog rolls. The kids each had some for supper and loved them. We did a switch for Kyler. He ate the hot dog and not the bun, but Q eats the bun but not his hot dog so we switched plates and we were good.

After supper the kiddos played for a bit more while Arnold and I did some cleaning of the house and then let the kids play around for a bit. We called it PJ time around 7:30 or so and they got on their PJ's and did a 'line up' in the kitchen. Arnold found a line in the kitchen and the kids lined up there for inspection to make sure they were kissable and tickelable and in their PJ's. Then since Q had a big fall on our walk he got pick what candy from the Bulk Barn we got to have. He picked Candy Necklaces. So the kids each got their candy and sat down on the couch to watch Aladdin. Once the movie was over it was time for bed. Or at least time to get in their bedrooms.

We brushed our teeth, did the last bathroom stops, had our gummy-vitamins and then read 1 book... which turned into 1 each and then it was off to bed. We had a few late night visitors, like about 30 minutes later claiming a drink for one, to go pee for the other and another drink for the other and off to bed again.

Arnold and I did have to do one night interruption about what words could be said outside of the bathroom... like poop, pee, and diapers. This was freaking Q out because sometimes he still wears a diaper (a car's pull up for long trips and times at church) and the kids were telling Q that his diapers stink and are silly and he shouldn't have them on. Talk about peer pressure from a 4 and 5 year old! After explaining that for this week those would be words we only use in the bathroom we only had 2 more hours of talking... yes that's right, when we finally started to hear the coughing it was around 11:30pm.

Speaking of which, Amber cough at night. Her mom thinks she is at the tail end of a cold so we are going to try a few different things. Whenever Amber had a Big coughing fit K would have a nightmare at the same time. Eventually they both stopped, around 1am.

Our funny moment:

We were praying for our Hot Dogs and buns and I would say the prayer and Q would repeat it, eventually all the kids did. We got to the part where I said "And Thank God for our safe travels" which turned into "And Thank God for our safe Troubles" Arnold and I were laughing so hard. He looked at me after and said "Well I think our Troubles (pointing to the kids) are just safe and sound!"

That's it for Day one!

Today's plans (being Monday) include:

Go to Toys'R'Us and check out their Duplo selection
Go to Costco and do our major shopping trip
Go to Walmart and get the last of our shopping trip (I hope)
Come home and unload everything (eat lunch and maybe do a craft)
Break time (aka Nap while Mommy recoups, does another load of laundry and a bit more cleaning to see if it helps with Ambers Cough)
Bike/Walk down to the Community Centre to pay for swimming lessons and my swimming pass
Then up for Supper. I *might* try to get in a bath but I"m not 100% sure yet.

Who knows what we will get done.
