New Food Friday #12 ~ Lasagne

Yes yes, I know, I know. I've done Lasagne before.. but this one is the actual "put in the pan" kind. AND, my favourite part, it's from my parents very first cookbook when they bought their first house. It's from a book called "The Best of Bridge". I made it on Tuesday and it was wonderful!

Lasagne

"Everyone has a lasagne recipe, but this is our favourite"

1.5 pounds of ground beef
1 - 28oz an of tomatoes
1 - 14oz can seasoned tomato sauce
2 envelopes of spaghetti sauce mix
2 cloves of garlic, minced
8 oz of lasagne or broad noodles
2 - 6 or 8 oz package thin sliced mozzarella cheese
1 cup of creamed cottage cheese
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese

1 - Brown meat slowly; Drain off excess fat and add next four ingredients. Cover and simmer for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Salt to test.

2 - Cook noodles in boiling salted water until tender Following package instructions. Drain, and rinse in cold water.

3 - Place half of the noodles in 9" by 13" baking dish. Cover with 1/3 of the sauce, then layer 1/2 mozzarella and 1/2 cottage cheese. Repeat layers ending with sauce. Top with Parmesan

4 - Bake at 350F for 25 to 30 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes. Cut into Squares. Serve with Green salad and french bread.

Serves 6 to 8 people.

Miranda's Mix Ups: I'm pretty sure there was more than 28oz of tomatoes in the can and a few other things were off. I used shredded mozzarella cheese and no creamed cottage cheese instead I used normal cream cheese. It was really good.

Family Reviews:

Q - meh... had some noodles and some meat, but did eat all of it
K - ate all of it but didn't want more
Arnold - liked it alot... and as well has alot of it to eat later
Miranda - it was good. Something I would make again!
