First year in University!
I loved Kings. I still do. I remember all my time there very fondly. It was an amazing time to meet new people, hanging out without parents checking in all the time, learn new things, and just absorb everything there is to university life, and a new city.
But this one person. This one person lived next door to me on the 8th floor. She didn't have a roommate (or maybe she did for a bit but not too long). I always found her kinda weird. She was *way* older than us (read maybe 15 years) and she was just odd. It was her first time coming to university and, in my opinion, she should have been married with kids by now. (See what was on my mind?)
Slowly I got to know her. She helped me out when my mom came when I was sick. She would give me a place to study on my own. She drove us places (Walmart was "so far" to walk). She would always help out where she could. She really, truly was an amazing person.
I still remember, end of first term, there were 4 of us who went out for dessert. She drove me and another friend from the music department and Arnold met us there after work. Arnold and I weren't dating.. AT ALL. But that night.. he asked if I wanted to keep talking. I looked at Shannon (who drove me) and gave her this "what do I do?" look. She offered to take my friend back to school and I stayed with Arnold. And so it all began.
She was one of the first people who knew we were engaged when we came back to REZ. It was after quiet time and we were so excited. Screaming and jumping up and down started it. She was so happy for us.
She was even at our wedding. She was one of the few people from Kings that was able to fly out for the wedding. It was awesome to see her there. She was always able to make us laugh. And she cried and cried during the wedding. When I asked her why, she kept telling me that she was so excited to see everything come full circle. Us meeting, dating, getting engaged, and now getting married.
When we found out we were pregnant with Kyler she was, again, one of the first to know. She was even more excited. She came up to the hospital to see us and say congrats. She really loved on our family. It was like having an older sister.
She had the best dog. His name was Freckles and every year on my birthday she would send me a video of her and Freckles singing "Happy Birthday" to me.
We went to visit her when Q was about 18 months old on our first trip to Alberta. She was so fun, even then!
While we grew apart, and didn't talk or email much, she is so loved by our family.
Today I got a message from a good friend telling me she had passed away. After some quick googling, it was true. I have no idea what happen to my dear friend but I miss her just the same.
Shannon, you were just what my 20 something self needed in university. I will never forget you, your friendship and your family. I'm sure you are rejoicing with God's angles right now.

Fun times!
We got a nice dump of snow this weekend. Nothing crazy but it was a good snow storm.
I will fully admit I miss the crazy times I had when I was little. I remember shoveling the snow and it being hip height. It took hours and many many rotations of my mom, dad, sister and I. It was so fun to make caves and tunnels.
Now you can't.
There are so many real fears now. A tunnel could cave in. A cave could be driven over or someone could jump on you while you are under the snow.
Thankfully there are a few safe places for my children. Arnold and I love having the boys explore our yard. It is fantastic. We now have tunnels and caves and oh so much more in our yard.
I try to make things fun for my boys... Even if I'm not playing outside with my boys. This week we did snowy ice cream!! It was such a hit!
It was 1/3 cup of whipping cream. A cap of vanilla. Two big scoops of sugar.
Then wisk!!
Pour it over about 6 cups of snow and mix.
Enjoy!!
I had so much fun so I did make it for the kids at school. They loved it!
Anyway... That's how I have snowy fun!

What I've Learned in the past 100 days of school
1 - I love each and every one of my 30 something kids!
2 - There are so many boys in my class
3 - I have finally (and I do mean like this week) realized that I have 8 A names and 7 S names (makes doing paper work easier)
4 - Most of my kids know their ABC's now
5 - Sometimes they can add
6 - I love reading to them
7 - I can finally get down some "cool" voices when reading
8 - I miss the afternoon routines
9 - Some of my kids have learned so much in the past 100 days and they are ready for grade 1
10 - Kindy chairs are very small, no matter how long it has been since I sat in one.
11 - K loves being in school, most of the time
12 - K can not be organized at all.
13 - We have organized his desk at least 4 times this year
14 - K loves gym
15 - K is the "supply teacher" for coding on Wednesdays
16 - He is doing swimming lessons with his class
17 - He is finally wearing his snowpants outside (might have to do with the fact that they can't play on the snow hill without them!)
18 - K may not like studying but is doing well at it.
19 - K has done great on most of his tests, but forgets to bring them home a lot!
20 - K is doing well with coming home on his own from school
21 - I love winter but I'm not sure about all this snow
22 - I'm always surprised how much fun the kids have in the snow
23 - I'm slightly grossed out about the kids eating snow... even though I did it when I was younger
24 - The kids love to play with the snow on the wall and "draw" pictures
25 - I love the reaction that kids give when they finally get something... like snow angles
26 - Every time it snows I hear in my head "If all the snow flakes were candy bars and milk shakes oh what a snow that would be...."
27 - Some children need to learn to dress faster!
28 - I think it's great how fast the kids get into a routine (ABC's or 123's at the gate)
29 - Sometimes I'm happy it's too cold out and we get to play longer
30 - I love the staff I work with outside! They are amazing!
31 - My kids are great at learning songs to sing for the Holiday Concert
32 - They are good at colouring their monthly pictures
33 - Some of them have finally learned what their names look like
34 - I love how the children grow each and every day
35 - the kids had cute costumes for the concert
36 - We practice a lot of our poems or songs outside at lunch
37 - I like learning the songs along with the kids
38 - The kids love learning about new things, Hanukkah, Christmas, etc.
39 - I'm surprised how many kids had never seen a Christmas Tree
40 - The kids love Dance Parties!
41 - November is the best "down month" we have had so far
42 - We had I've never read so many "winter" themed books
43 - The sand box can easily be changed to a "wood pelt" box.
44 - Children can have fun with just boxes
45 - I love that things become "new" when the boxes go away ever few weeks and come back
46 - This year, the children can't seem to keep toys in the right boxes
47 - Straws are the coolest thing to Kindy's
48 - There are more books for American Thanksgiving than Canadian Thanksgiving
49 - Halloween is so much fun with the kids
50 - Almost everyone wears costumes, or bring extra costumes
51 - Some of our parents are amazing!
52 - Kids love the snow table
53 - I'm never surprised and how much the kids forget after a long weekend
54 - First report cards for the SK's are such an exciting time
55 - It's always interesting seeing how the kids are doing in their review
56 - Some kids are great with "homework"
57 - Library is one of my favourite times, even if I don't go
58 - Every once and a while the kids have it all together!
59 - Every once and a while the parents have it all together :)
60 - Once a month I need to empty the mailers from some of the kids.
61 - Q thinks his class is the best ever!
62 - He loves all his classes all the time
63 - I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with him
64 - Q is reading more and more books every day, and he keeps going
65 - Q is very excited about what he will be learning in the next few grades.
66 - He is doing really well in swimming lessons
67 - Q loves his after school Cooking Club and Basketball
68 - Q has a great teacher
69 - He loves his Chess club he joined at school with Mr. V
70 - Q is in that "perfect age" that he can still give me kisses and hugs at school
71 - The people I work with are generally AWESOME!
72 - It's always surprising how many of them are overworked
73 - There are a lot of stupid things happening in schools and most people don't know it
74 - Some people lead the school and others drag their feet
75 - It's been over a year since I fell and I still cling to the banisters while going down the stairs
76 - There are a lot of stairs in the school!!
77 - The photocopier is one of those things that can like you or dislike you... most of the time it dislikes me
78 - After seeing classroom budgets and learning how much paper costs I'm always careful on how much wasted paper I have
79 - I love talking with the other staff
80 - My favourite time in school has to be the couple days before school starts (I realized the don't count for 100 days but still!)
81 - The first day of school is always a scary one
82 - At least the crying stops :)
83 - Kids grow! More shoes are needed!
84 - Days 1-5 drive me crazy! I never remember what days we are on!
85 - The new layout of the classroom still confuse me but it looks amazing!
86 - Reading with the SK's is one of those amazing things
87 - I can officially stuff the "I can read" and "Alphabet book" in less than 20 minutes
88 - Blocks are the favourite thing in our classroom right now
89 - We are very lucky to have a great art ECE and the kids are really enjoying it
90 - I love doing bulletin boards.. shh don't tell anyone :)
91 - Our school has growing pains but it is one amazing place to be
92 - The kids that eat healthy lunches are my favourite!
93 - I've dealt with lots of accidents this year (for the first 15 days of school we had more accidents than school days)
94 - Puke is where I cross the lines and remind myself I'm a volunteer
95 - I still don't want to go back and get my ECE... I want to be a volunteer for as long as I can
96 - I'm very blessed to be working at the school for lunches.
97 - Some days I love being at school more than being at home
98 - I love themed reading books (currently working with 100's day books and V-day books)
99 - Sometimes you find something that works in the classroom and sometimes you don't
100 - This school/class is the best place ever :)

It's hard being a parent
These past few weeks we have had to deal with how to handle our boys. Not just because they are boys.... lets be serious the "boys will be boys" is true, but because of school.
Last year was a hard year for Kyler. We had pushed hard to have his teacher bring him to "team" and have him accessed. Every time we asked for it to happen she would give as an answer that I was never to happy about.
Finally, at the end of the year we got it done! Thank goodness. We finally have our plan in place for Kyler's education.
This year started out bumpy. We didn't find out until about half way through October that his new teacher hadn't even seen his reports!
oh man
Now we are getting the kiddo back on track! We have had homework problems, agenda issues, and now test problems.
Kyler's homework wasn't getting done before. We couldn't understand why things aren't getting done. But now... we realized it has to do with his agenda not getting done. Now that his teacher is on board with his he is getting his agenda done and signed EVERY DAY and he is doing AMAZING! I'm so proud of him.
This past week he brought his agenda home every day, signed by the teacher, and had his homework done every day as well! His treat was the haunted house on Thursday night. I'm so proud!
Using his agenda is better now. With it being signed every day and coming home for me to look at we are getting more done.
The bad part is we are still dealing with the affects of before getting the agenda done.
Today was another kick in the gut.
Kyler brought home his spelling test. We had problems with this before the agenda was being checked and so his mark... 3/13. I just about cried!
And with report cards coming home any day now it makes it so much worse!
I'm just praying we can turn this around and get it better.
Tomorrow is his first test since getting on track with the agenda. And we are just about ready!
Whoever said parenting could be easy was SO wrong.
Parenting is hard... especially when it comes to your kids in school.
While I may not have done well in school, or ever been the best student, I vow to be the best parent and stand behind my son. If it's holding him up when he falls, I'll be there. If it's holding his arms up in cheers, I'll be there. If it's holding his hand when he needs encouragement, I'll be there.
I'll be there, even if it makes me cry when he does bad on tests. And I'll be the first to post pictures of those tests that he improves on!

Some Days are Just Crazy
Today I realized that my "job" is way more than people give me credit for.
I'd like to give you a glimpse in on what happens in on of my semi-typical days at school. I may not be a teacher, or an ECE, or an Educator of any significance.... and that may be my downfall later... but this is how my days can go:
Get to school and find todays work "hinted at" in a pile on a chair
Take down a table to get some work done
Go to the office, and sign in, collect attendance and any extra work that needs to be done
Make announcement for chocolate bar and RH gear
Empty the School Council Box and find out what children have brought in money or forms for new chocolate bar boxes
Go back to the office and get a deposit bag, zip and slip
Once reaching my room begin paperwork for chocolate bar needs
Start sorting envelope money and getting the pre-paperwork done
Sort out change and begin counting
This is where my "teaching partner" comes in and helps me out and we chat about our nights. Sometimes it's just random things that happen, sometimes its venting over emails or something that may have happen, and sometimes it's just talking.
We count the money together and talk about what jobs need to be done today and begin prepping out loud what needs to get done.
TeachP leaves and ECE comes in. We talk about what the plan for the day is (Plan A, as we know things change all the time) talk about what happen on day 4 (in our case, it's also a Friday... which means reading buddies, then in the PM we have extra play time). We even had a conversation about photocopying and how to do it.
I left to go to classrooms and hand out candy and forms for new chocolate bar boxes.

Go back to class and start organizing more chocolate bar stuff (can you figure out what our current fundraiser is?)
Talk about the fundraiser that we are currently doing and hope to do soon and the costs and possible profits with TeachP.
Begin filing and prepping the Friday folder and our trip papers
Get called by the office to be an Emergency SNA for the day
Clean up quickly and head to the office to get schedule
Head to Room 2 for work and then to get a student to go out for recess
Have break and spend it working with "my kids"
Walked into the room to see TeachP getting a change of clothes for someone who had an accident; the kids playing around and snack still on the table! Talk about a world wind!
Got kids organized for Reading Buddies and got them out in the hall and then changed place with TeachP and went to the kid needing to be changed
Child got cleaned and ready to go and ECE brought them to their reading buddy
Finished cleaning up a bit and went to reading buddies
Got a snack and headed back to my ESNA position for the day
Worked with some kids
Back to room 1 to work with some students there
Left at 11:15 to get to my actual Paying Job!
Work (11:15 - 12:45)
Did attendance and some prep in the classroom
Sign out and go workout with Lori! (one of my favourite part of the day)
Back at school by 2:20pm
Get more Chocolate bar boxes and prep them
Finish updating the fundraising plans
Talk out Monday plans with TeachP
Help tidy up in the room
Make sure the kids lockers are cleaned up
Sing the good bye song
Help prep dismissal and stick around
Then it's back to the classroom and finish talking about plans for Monday/Tuesdays and next years September, and things we want to change.
And then home by 3:15pm

Tomoorrow, Tomorrow........
Can you believe tomorrow is the first day of school?
Can you believe tomorrow is the first day of grade 4/2?
Can you believe tomorrow is the first day of a new meal plan?
Can you believe tomorrow is the first day of following a teaching plan?
Can you believe tomorrow is the first day of me going to a gym?
Crazy right?
I've been counting down to the end of summer for a while now. I'm excited to go back to work and to see my friends/teachers/students. It's so exciting!
But now. Now that school is here it's hard to believe.
Tomorrow I will take the "first day of school" photos; the boys will pack their lunches and put them in their new backpacks; Arnold and I will walk the boys to school. We will watch as the kids get organized into the classroom lineups. I'll keep taking pictures of them going into the school with their classes. Arnold and I will then walk home, hand in hand. He will leave for work, most likely on his bike. And I will do a few odd jobs around the house, then head to work at school.
I will be working on getting our family on a new healthy meal plan. I'm hoping it works. Not just for the boys, but for me as well.
I'm also working on following a teaching plan!! How cool is that? I'm very excited to follow plans that have been set out and organized for the year. Every week something new, and something planned out. It will be really amazing to watch how the year unfolds!
Not only that, but my friend and I are joining a gym :) Crazy right? Seriously thought... we are joining a gym. It's a three month trial to see how much we go. Who knows!
So Tomorrow..... tomorrow, we open our eyes and we see how our lives move on this school year.

I've been counting down to the end of summer for a while now. I'm excited to go back to work and to see my friends/teachers/students. It's so exciting!
But now. Now that school is here it's hard to believe.
Tomorrow I will take the "first day of school" photos; the boys will pack their lunches and put them in their new backpacks; Arnold and I will walk the boys to school. We will watch as the kids get organized into the classroom lineups. I'll keep taking pictures of them going into the school with their classes. Arnold and I will then walk home, hand in hand. He will leave for work, most likely on his bike. And I will do a few odd jobs around the house, then head to work at school.
I will be working on getting our family on a new healthy meal plan. I'm hoping it works. Not just for the boys, but for me as well.
I'm also working on following a teaching plan!! How cool is that? I'm very excited to follow plans that have been set out and organized for the year. Every week something new, and something planned out. It will be really amazing to watch how the year unfolds!

As the summer whines down.....
Today is chilly. Or at least it was at 7am when my husband, God bless his soul, went outside to check on our little campers.
It reminds me of how summer is coming to a close.... or in my house "whining" down. Seriously... whining. The kids the last few days/weeks have started to get this grating tone in their voice. Halfway between a whine and a cry. With a bit of a "I'm smarter than you are" feeling to it.
I'm done :)
I'm done with summer.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE LOVE LOVE summer time. I feel so accomplished (generally). It's like a fresh start for me. A fresh start to get myself in order. You know.. lose weight (I gained), be more active (my butt print is in the kitchen/living room chairs), go biking (nada), and spend more time with the kids (check!)
But now I'm done.
Completely over it.

I saw a facebook post today from a friend of mine that I wanted to share:
It's just how I feel. Completely. I'm ready to get back to school before I lose my mind. And to those great teachers who take care of our kids!
As my summer comes to a close (I'm back to "work/volunteering" next week) I want to say that it has gone well. My kids have done 4 weeks or organized camps, 1 week of "Camp Heslop" and 2 weeks of chilling. Next week they hang out at home with Uncle Jack for a large portion and help me out at the school!
I'm excited to see how my planning for my program I will be running at school goes this year. I'm excited for the changes that are happening (Kyler going into grade 4 and Quinton into grade 2). I'm excited to see how the classroom I volunteer in changes. We have so much planned and so many cool ideas.
I'm just excited for a new season in our lives. My family thrives on routine and going back to school is a great one! It should be amazing!

There's really nothing as effective as school vacation to make me think that teachers aren't paid enough for what they do. Particularly good ones, which we have been fortunate to have here so far. Thank you, teachers!! (Now, can school start up again before I lose my mind?!)

6 more days!
That's right!! 6 more days!
This mornings board at school was our nice reminder that there is only 6 more days of school left!!! Which for teachers (who weren't counting today) it was really 5 days! One whole hand!
Last night was our Christmas concerts at school. Actually, one was in the afternoon. But they were great.
Our week has been busy!
On Monday we dropped off our teacher gifts! Mr C (Q's teacher) got a "book of gift cards". Ms. G (K's teacher) got a jar of gumballs and a GC. Then the office staff and those I work with 1 on 1 got my "exploding box" gifts.
Tuesday was preparing for our concert. It meant for a super duper busy day!
Wednesday got crazy. A fun morning to get the concert ready and to get the kids excited. Then lunch and onto the concert. We had our concert from 1:30 until about 2:30pm. Everyone was gone by 3pm. Which is nice. I even got my first "teacher gifts" :) I loved it!
On Wednesday night. it was my boys turn. The parent council did a great job with our baskets so I spent most of my time doing the raffle. A friend of mine one the VIP seating. It was big cushy seats at the front with no one in front of you. It was great :) I loved it! Her hubby couldn't make it so I did. We got front row seating, and they waited on you! There was a bottle of water and a juice box to start. Then you got a tray of grapes, cheese and cracker. After the next group you got carrots/cucumber and dip in a cup. And last was a tray with cookies on it! It was all so great! The kids did a wonderful job serving.
Then to add to the fun I won a basket!! The boy basket. I seriously bought 2 tickets and they were the ones in there :) I'm so excited for it.
The boys sang so well. You could hear Q over EVERYONE! It was so funny. And Kyler did a great job. He did a little "saying of favourite things" during the first song in the microphone and the second song was a dance. He loved it and did a wonderful job!
Then today... the "6 more days" of school left was so fun! We all had a wonderful day, even with the wind-chill. They called indoor recess for the classes. So no one played outside in the morning. All the kids came in ASAP and then we only went out for 10 minutes at lunch. I swear it took more time getting the kids ready than it did to play outside! We did play "What time is it Mr. Wolf?" with them to have them run around a little then it was time to go inside. We did a train to walk around and "pick up" everyone around the area then back to the gate and in the classroom. I read the kids a book and then they were off to gym. Great timing!
All in all a great day!

September is Here Again!
That's right ladies and gents, September is here again!
We are gearing up for some "Down time". That's right. After our crazy summer we are excited to have some down time for our family.
This does mean going back to school, getting into routine, bringing a few new things into our family, and kicking out some old.
I thought I would try to make a "plan" for each month. I see you all out there rolling your eyes... me and my plans right?
Well so far this month our plan includes:
survival!
And maybe:
get into our routine
Arnold and I will both be gone 1 weekend out of the month
eat healthier (ie not eating out all the time)
stick to a budget and pay off some more of our CC's
Personal goals for everyone:
Arnold:
bike to work every day
Kyler:
eat healthy and grow strong
Quinton:
go to the park and tie my shoes
Miranda:
walk and lose weight

It's almost Back to School!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today the boys and I are going through their closets in an effort to see just what they need for school in September. On Saturday, August 3rd, we are doing our "Big Back To School Shopping".
Our boys are so blessed that every year, just before school starts, Nana takes them shopping and gets them "Set to go" for the year. When they started school it was buying a backpack, getting indoor runners and getting socks, underwear, shirts, pants, ect. The whole list.
Each year things change a bit. I won't let both my boys get backpacks at the same year (mainly cause they are $30.00 and they both don't need to buy one each year). So this year it's K's turn... but both backpacks are good to go so no backpacks this year.
Kyler does need a new lunch bag, but Q's is fine (since this is his first year of doing lunches at school it's barely been used since we got it 2 years ago).
Quinton will need new pants this year, as he has grown like there is no tomorrow.
Kyler need new socks (even though we just got him new ones)
And slowly we will figure out just what everyone needs.
So for now I venture into the boys closets and get their "back to school shopping lists" complete... wish me luck!

Wait, what's that? Right... quiet!
Our lives are slowly getting into pace. And I'm so thankful to God for that.
The first week in September Kyler and Quinton announced our "family secret".
We are expecting.
And we are worried, scared, and frightened that after telling the boys, and our family, that something bad will happen. I think it's something you never get past after a miscarriage. I mean we SAW Baby Casey's "sac and egg". There was no denying that there was a baby growing in there and every day, every hour, every minute past the miscarriage date we praise God.
We thank him for our blessing growing inside me. We are excited, blessed, and so happy for this little one. Every morning and every night our little bean gets more kisses and hugs than I do! She/He is so loved by Kyler and Quinton (not to mention mom, dad, Nana, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, and everyone else!).
We told family and friend at the beginning of the month about this blessing from God. We even got to show off a little photo of our bean! My ultrasound tech was AMAZING and let me have a picture of our little one early (9 weeks and 4 days) so I could show the boys where this little one was. And what does Quinton do with the photo? Runs back to his teacher and goes "Look what's in my mommy's belly!! And it's my Birthday Present!"
After that it was a free for all. I told the girls at youth group, my friends(family) online, Arnold told his work, we told the people who we talk with all the time and everyone is excited. We are surrounded in prayers for this little bean. And I know, more than anything, that we are blessed.
Kyler started school with Mrs. J. He loves her! He loves his class, his teacher, his friends, and the fact that things aren't *too* different from Mrs. B from last year (I will post pictures soon).
Quinton is an SK and he isn't learning much this week. He's informed all of us after school that this first bit of school is for the JK's and not the SK's. They aren't learning anything (haha). He loves that he has Mr. Brown again and that his friends are with him in school. I don't have the heart to tell him that one of his best friends will be leaving for 4 months + in a few weeks. I'm so worried about him and how he will react. But so far so good.
Arnold's doing alright at work. Still getting into the grove after being gone for vacation for a week and a bit he isn't happy all the time. But that's ok. September seems to do this to everyone. This weekend Arnold has headed up north with some friends from Church and is going to a men's conference at MBC. He is excited to be going and really enjoys the speaker.
Which brings me to me :) I'm doing ok. So far no morning sickness, however I do have some times where I'm *sure* I'm throwing up but nope :) Q and I had the flu last weekends so we are getting over that. I'm enjoying my days. I've got energy again (thank goodness) and I'm loving it. I've volunteered in Q's class about 4 times so far this year. It's alot of fun. On the days I don't have Ian or Dr's appointments/ultrasounds, I'm in Mr. B's class. I've also got an invite to help out the music teacher/librarian as well. It's nice. I'm enjoying helping out in the school. I've labeled all the workbooks, the bell work, anything that goes home, stuffed mailers, got the reading folders ready for the SK's, helped with snacks, the paint centre, backed bags and unpacked bags, as well as getting anything and everything I can to make Mr. Brown's job easier. Thankfully, it has been nice and easy and chilling out around the school. It's fun. Really.
Our typical day looks like this:
6am - up to pee, I swear sometimes it's earlier!
6:30am - Arnold's alarm goes off
6:45am - out of bed and upstairs
7am - News time! and breakfast
7:30am - on days that Ian comes, he shows up around this time
8:15am - Sophia comes over
8:35am - out the door and off to school
8:50am - everyone in school (volunteering if no Ian, if Ian, come home)
11:10am - head to school to get Q and Sophia
11:30am - home and time to clean up and have lunch
12:45pm - nap time for Ian (depending on pickup times)
1pm - TV/Movie off and kids outside or downstairs to play while Ian naps
2pm - back upstairs/inside and colour/read book time
3pm - off to school to get Kyler
3:30pm - home from school and Sophia picked up
4:30pm - time to make supper!
5:30pm - Ian picked up
6pm - eat! (earlier if we can)
7:30pm - bed time!
Mondays (in October) are Aqua fit
Tuesdays (first of the month) are the C&C/Young Adult dinners
Wednesdays are youth/mens bible study/school council meetings (oh yeah, Arnold got nominated for Treasurer:P)
Thursdays are swimming (in October) or Arnold's running around day
Friday we travel (if going somewhere) or we seem to have some plans that day. It keeps us very very busy!
Today the boys and I are home alone (as I said before Arnold is up north) so we have done some running around, cleaning, gardening, more cleaning, and had lots of fun...
Can you believe it... it's quiet! NO WAY! Yep... it's quiet in my house (hence the blog post). My boys are napping. Thank you Lord for little mercies like naps :)

You Can't Make Me!
You Can't Make Me go back to reality, not yet at least :)
I'm writing my blog post from my parents house in Sarnia. Last Saturday we headed out from Toronto, 4 little kids in tow and drove to Amhurstburg Ontario. We left the house around 10:30am or so and arrived at our "cottage" around 4:15pm. What a trip! We had lunch, and 2 potty/walking breaks. And when we arrived we loved it!
This place was a castle! It had 1 master bedroom with a king size bed, a view of the beach and an ensuite bathroom/shower/walkin-closet. The room next to it was a queen size bed. Then a bathroom, which could be closed between the sink and the shower/toilet side. Then another room with a double bed and finally the room Arnold and I had. A King size bed with a beautiful view of the beach.
The main level had a family room/dinning room. A large kitchen with a mini eating area there (table with 4 chairs) and then another area for sitting and watching TV (number 2) and a few sitting chairs. Sliding doors to the deck and then a mudroom/laundry room with a door outside and a bathroom. And still another bathroom and a den with a pull out couch.
WOW what a house!
Outside was a deck off the sliding glass doors/mudroom door and then 2 steps down. You walked to the back yard and another deck with a picnic table and umbrella and 4 chairs to sit on. Then a few steps down to the beach and you had wonderful sand to play on, a mini layer of seaweed that had washed up on the shore then the wonderfully warm water (which got cooler as the week went on). It was a beautiful beach, beautiful cottage, just beautiful!
We spent time on the beach, in the house playing games, a trip or 2 into walmart, out on the fishing boat we borrowed, sleeping/napping, and 1 day out at a little play area/animal farm/greenhouse.
All in all a wonderful vacation. I managed to read 3 books, nap, take some pictures, nap, never cook (THANK YOU BECCA!!), nap, play on the beach, nap, and just enjoy myself!
This will be the last vacation like this!
Now we are at my parents house. We head out tomorrow morning after breakfast and drive up to Owen Sound to deliver the boat we borrowed. Arnold and Lisa LOVED the boat, so much. It was well worth it.
Our plan is to get home to Toronto Sunday night and use Monday to prepare for school.
Our life will be changing this September. K and Q are back in school, we have a new daycare girl for before and after school care and we have Ian, until December when his mom goes on mat leave. I'm hoping to work at the school at least 1 day a week and help out in Mr. Browns class.
I hope to update with some pictures soon. For now... You Can't Make Me go back to reality :)

Then a bathroom, which could be closed between the sink and the shower/toilet side. Then another room with a double bed and finally the room Arnold and I had. A King size bed with a beautiful view of the beach.
The main level had a family room/dinning room. A large kitchen with a mini eating area there (table with 4 chairs) and then another area for sitting and watching TV (number 2) and a few sitting chairs. Sliding doors to the deck and then a mudroom/laundry room with a door outside and a bathroom. And still another bathroom and a den with a pull out couch.
WOW what a house!
Outside was a deck off the sliding glass doors/mudroom door and then 2 steps down. You walked to the back yard and another deck with a picnic table and umbrella and 4 chairs to sit on. Then a few steps down to the beach and you had wonderful sand to play on, a mini layer of seaweed that had washed up on the shore then the wonderfully warm water (which got cooler as the week went on). It was a beautiful beach, beautiful cottage, just beautiful!
We spent time on the beach, in the house playing games, a trip or 2 into walmart, out on the fishing boat we borrowed, sleeping/napping, and 1 day out at a little play area/animal farm/greenhouse.
All in all a wonderful vacation. I managed to read 3 books, nap, take some pictures, nap, never cook (THANK YOU BECCA!!), nap, play on the beach, nap, and just enjoy myself!
This will be the last vacation like this!
Now we are at my parents house. We head out tomorrow morning after breakfast and drive up to Owen Sound to deliver the boat we borrowed. Arnold and Lisa LOVED the boat, so much. It was well worth it.
Our plan is to get home to Toronto Sunday night and use Monday to prepare for school.
Our life will be changing this September. K and Q are back in school, we have a new daycare girl for before and after school care and we have Ian, until December when his mom goes on mat leave. I'm hoping to work at the school at least 1 day a week and help out in Mr. Browns class.
I hope to update with some pictures soon. For now... You Can't Make Me go back to reality :)

1 more month!
Can you believe it's only one more month until school starts? The boys keep asking when is school coming, or if tomorrow is a school day. Every time we try to explain how much longer we have to go but I think at 7 and 5 they don't quite understand.
We made an effort in July to be working on some school work but as things went on it didn't get done. We did a week or so at my parents house when they both did work but after that things lagged.
I'm going to try and fix that this month.
We have started our "get ready to go back to school" routine already. Yes I realize this may seem crazy to some people. I mean really we have 1 whole month before we do go back to school but I need to know things are ready.
Last night we spent about 1 hour going through the boys clothes, the ones in their drawers, the ones in our "too big box" and anything we could find. We figured out just what the boys need for school and added it to our list of shopping for the new year. Thankfully it's not that crazy!!
In the next few days we are going to head out for our back to school shopping and get the boys ready for Grade 2 (oh my gosh!) and SK!
I'm going to be heading to the school soon to get some more gardening done there and eventually get my pass for volunteering in the school. Hopefully we can get it done soon :)

Out like a ....?
Well March is in like a ?????? and out like a ???????????
Quinton's class talked about how March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, or the other way around. They talked about it at the beginning of the month and said it came in like a Lamb. Then when the end of the month came most said a Lion was back!
Well Quinton informed me that they thought March was going out like a "lemur". When I asked what he ment he said different every day, like the stripes on the tail! Sometimes he just surprises me!
This morning confirmed it thought! It snowed!! Who would have guessed!! What fun! Not too bad, and just a dusting but it did!
I hope that where ever you are March was just as perfect for you as it was for us!

*knock knock* Are you there?
and the answer is yes! I'm here! It seems life has caught up with me.. again.
Just this week was our week from crazytown. With my daycare boy for 3 days, the boys having school for only 4 days, and with things happening each day I was out and about and all over! Thankfully my Aqua fit, husband's help and brother's help have kept me sane for a while now.
I'll give you an "update" from Thursday.
In the morning my daycare boy showed up at 7am (normal) and by 7:30am he was in his high chair and Kyler and I were out the door. **For those of you who think I just left the daycare boy in his high chair alone ^My Mother^ I didn't. My brother is living with us and watched the daycare boy and Quinton** This is after quickly packing lunches, doing homework and getting bags ready to go to school. K and I were off to see the dentist. This was K's last polishing down and we managed to do a great job with it. No tears! Instead we used headphones. Kyler was allowed to listen to his music as loud as he wanted while sitting in the dentist chair.
We went home and I ran in the house and Jack took Kyler and Quinton to school. By the time he got home I had load #2 in the laundry, the boys suitcase upstairs, daycare boy changed and ready for the day, and my suitcase upstairs and ready to go. I started my "don't forget this" bag of things to take home and began packing the boys for our weekend.
Jack went and picked up Quinton for me while I fed the little boy. Quinton and the daycare boy watched a movie while I got some more laundry, packing and organizing done. I put the little boy down for a nap and Quinton on the couch to "rest". I got the rest of our packing done and ready by the door and then it was time to get the daycare boy up. He was changed and his laundry from our house was in the washer before his dad got there. We packed him up and headed him out the door.
Quinton got his swimming stuff on and Jack, Q and I headed out the door. We drove to school and I went in quick and got Kyler. I ended up giving some "free Doula advice" to the secretary who is expecting in the spring but is sick right now. Then off we went to swimming lessons. I got the boys inside, and talked to Simon about swimming lessons. Then on my way out talked to all the parents of the people we do our swimming sessions with.
I got home and picked up my phone I realized I had forgotten and responded to Jack's questions about some swimming lessons stuff. Then I walked down to school.
I talked to Mr. Brown about how Q was doing. We went over his sheet, talked about how he was doing (great), what he has improved on (his picture drawing skills), and what he can work on in the future (printing his name without help from a name card).
But really... after a while with doing these interviews (this is the 6th time I've done interviews with Mr. Brown) the conversation is quick and easy and we are done before my time is up. This time Mr. Brown and I went over different apps on our phone and different games we have, how they work and what is fun for the kids. Eventually I realized I was into another students time block but I guess they didn't show! I went down to K's classroom and talked to Mrs. B. (no they are not related) I was able to find a time with her at 4:30pm instead of 6:15pm I had on my forms with her. So I trekked back down to Mr. Browns room and visited with them (being Mr. Brown and Mrs. F - the EA) for a while. Mrs. B came down about 5 minutes later and said her next person didn't show up and asked if I wanted to start now! HECK YES!
We talked about how K's report card was (great! alot of B+'s 2 A+s and 1 C in writing), what he can improve on (his writing), what he need help on (reading and understanding what the story was about) and a few more things. It was a good visit and I got a quick preview of what is happening in their class for the next little while. That I am very excited about! Kyler will be learning about money, time and adding and subtracting. I am very excited for this and we already have our "money bag" ready to go at home.
I went home from the interviews and my brother had already started the wash (thank you Jack!). I got the boys fed and ready to go to my parents house. I began to load the car and hubby came home. He fixed a few things quickly at our house for the websites we host and helped load the car and off we went!
We drove out of Toronto around 6:30/7pm. The drive was nice and easy and fast! We made a stop at Jack's old house for some mail and then back on the road to Sarnia. We got the car unloaded and the kids in the house. They were sugared up and off to bed by 11:30pm. Then all of us went to bed.
What a day hey?
Friday morning Q woke Papa up by walking into his room and saying "Papa, I can't sleep a whole night, I can only sleep a half a night". So downstairs went Papa and Quinton around 5am or so. Papa stayed with Q until he had to go to work and then Nana was up. I got up shortly after and planned on doing "nothing" all day. Which turned into.. driving to Strathroy and dropping off K's Columbia winter coat. Thank goodness for lifetime warranties. They are going to replace the zipper on the coat and ship it to me in Toronto! I got back into Sarnia around 10:30am and picked up Nana, Jack and Kyler and we headed to TRU (Toys R Us). Nana was doing her pick up for the weekend. Kyler got a HUGE Star Wars Lego ship and Quinton put in his order for a Batman Lego. Which he got as well. We then went and found a new polo for Kyler so he can wear more ties to school (his new thing) and then to another kids clothing store to find him a new hoodie and a few long sleeve shirts to keep him warmer at school.
We got home in time for Nana to have a nap. That sounded like SUCH a good idea so I went off as well. I got up shortly after 3:30pm and got ready for scrapbooking. I went to the store and did their Friday Night Crop. It was so nice to see everyone again. I made 2 great layouts and then headed home.
Saturday morning we went out for breakfast with Papa and his friends. That was great. I love seeing them all and it was perfect timing as one of the couples is heading to the USA for a few weeks of warmth! So it was good to see them before they were out for a while. We visited for about 2 hours. The boys did great for that long. I'm so proud of them. We then went out to run around a bit. We stopped at Staples, and another store then were back at the house. Just in time to drop off Arnold and the boys, get something to snack on and head out to follow Papa.
He had to drop his car off somewhere to get fixed so I followed him out and then came home with Dad. When he got out of the car Arnold got in. We had a meeting at LI about some website stuff and advertising ideas. Then back home and turn around again and go out with Mom and Jack to get Jack some new clothes for his new job :)
Mom had also found a few gift cards in a purse in the basement before she threw it away and one GC was for Chapters for 30.00 (I got a new cover for my Kindle) and for Carol Baker Vasage(sp) for 50.00 (I got some cover-up). What fun shopping with someone else's money!!
We went home and Nana had a nap while we waited for our dinner guests. My childhood friend Jess and her husband Mike came to have supper and visit. After they left we watched a movie then off to bed.
Our "fun" Sunday....
We woke up to Quinton at my parents door to their bedroom going "Papa! We have a big emergency" and since Q says this alot for random things, no one really thought anything of it. Then we hear mom yell up the stairs, "Get your dad, the basement is flooded!" Oh yeah.. 4 sleepy adults jumped out of bed. Arnold was down the stairs before he had his glasses on (someone grabbed them for him) and we were all in the basement in no time flat. The hot water heater pressure release valve was leaking... and it looked like all night long! It was all over the laundry/work room, the main hallway and into the main area there. It was alot of clean up. We called Grandma and Grandpa and asked for their shop vac that works for water as well and while Jack was heading over in his PJ's to get that I was on my hands and knees using our little spot bot on the manual setting to get as much out of the carpet as I could. Dad, Arnold and Mom were emptying the work room of everything in the way and trying to stop the water as soon as possible. With a few hours of getting the water out of the carpet, the water shut off and things moved around to dry we finally had a few moments to catch our breaths! Dad and Arnold went off to the store to get/find a new water heater, Jack was off working on his training for his new job and the boys ended up outside to play. Mom and I worked on a few things for the big parties we have coming up in our lives in the next little while.
What a crazy crazy day! Needless to say at 9:30pm, to sit down and write this blog post was kinda relaxing :)

Chicken Soup With Rice
2 years ago Kyler was in JK. It was only a few weeks into school but it was the beginning of Kyler's "I can read" books. We would go over his poems, and songs and review them during the weekend.
Today while Quinton was getting out his lunch he started to say "paddle once, paddle twice, chicken soup and rice". I laughted because it was perfect! I missed that song/poem! It's great to have it going on again!
For those of you who don't know what it is here's how it goes:

Quinton's First Day of School!!
On Friday my baby went to school. My littlest baby went to school! Can you believe it? I"m just in shock how much he has grown. While he did have his ups and downs on his first day he did well and is excited to go back on Monday.
I packed him a snack because the snack program doesn't start until Monday but he didn't get to eat it and was so sad. Instead he had a snack that Mr. Brown had ready for him. No big deal right? Wrong! He wanted to eat his own snack and that made him so sad. Then he wanted to play somewhere but there were already 3 kids playing there and was upset for a few seconds until Mr. Brown and Mrs. F found the computers to be open so there he went and was happy as could be.
Today he drew a "dragon" for his first day of school picture. If you ask him it's a rainbow t-rex dragon with an X through him! I'm excited to see what it looks like when we go into the classroom. He also read 2 books. One about a bear going to school and one about a bunny going to school. He really liked those books. He also sang "O Canada" today and in the hall sang "Skinamarinky dinky dink I love you" song and he liked that one.

Wrong! He wanted to eat his own snack and that made him so sad. Then he wanted to play somewhere but there were already 3 kids playing there and was upset for a few seconds until Mr. Brown and Mrs. F found the computers to be open so there he went and was happy as could be.
Today he drew a "dragon" for his first day of school picture. If you ask him it's a rainbow t-rex dragon with an X through him! I'm excited to see what it looks like when we go into the classroom. He also read 2 books. One about a bear going to school and one about a bunny going to school. He really liked those books. He also sang "O Canada" today and in the hall sang "Skinamarinky dinky dink I love you" song and he liked that one.

Pain and a Picture
Picture first!
This gives you an idea of what our days look like:
7:15am is our wake up calls on days we don't have daycare kids
8:30am is when we need to go to school
10:50am was Q's appointment at school
11:10am is when I need to go and pick up Q from school
3:00pm is when Q and I (and any daycare kids) need to go and get Kyler!
And that's not all our days get a bit more busy every day!
Pain.....
About a week or so ago I was told by my dr that my arm (has been hurting for over a month now) is now considered to have "tennis elbow". OUCH! Some days are better than others and some days REALLY suck. I'm not too excited about it at all but hey, what can I do? I love doing things around my house, I need to but when my arm hurts this much it's not easy to do things. I can't open jars without pain, open doors without pain, pretty much open ANYTHING without it hurting. I can't hold my boys hands. it's so sore.
I talked to a friend across the road today and she gave me a number of someone she goes too and I'm going to try them out on Monday at 9:30am. I'm hoping it doesn't hurt so bad!

Interview Day!
Yesterday was Quintons interview date :) He had fun! He loved seeing Mr Brown and since we had done this before we didn't need to do much. We visited more than anything. It was nice. So we hung out for about 20 minutes then headed home. But I couldn't resist getting a photo of Q getting his backpack on and filled it with his indoor shoes!

First Day of First Grade for my First born!
I can't believe my "little man" is so big! Today his Daddy, brother, and I dropped him off for first grade.
After a confusing start he is finally in his class. Room 9 with Mrs. B!
