New Food #27 ~ Taco Pizza

Way back in May (I know I'm SOO behind) we had Taco Pizza. Here's the recipe and I'll write how I changed it afterwards:

Taco Pizza
Prep 15 minutes Bake 20 minutes

8 oz lean ground beef
1 medium green sweet pepper chopped
1 - 11.5 oz package refrigerated cornbread twists (like Pillsbury ones)
1/2 cup purchased salsa
3 cups shredded taco cheese
Crushed tortilla chips (optional)
Sour cream (optional)
Chopped tomato (optional)
Chopped green onion (optional)

1 - Preheat oven to 400F. In a skillet, cook beef and sweet pepper over medium heat until meat is browned; drain. Set aside.

2 - Unroll cornbread dough (do not separate into strips). Press dough into the bottom and up the edges of a greased 12 inch pizza pan. Spread salsa on top of dough. Sprinkle with meat mixture and cheese. Bake about 20 minutes or until bottom of crust is golden when lifted slightly with a spatula. If desired, top with crushed tortilla chips, sour cream, tomato and green onion. Cut into slices.

Makes 6 slices.

So what we changed was no sweet pepper. And I couldn't find the cornbread dough ANYWHERE (maybe it's an American thing?). So instead I went to METRO and got their pizza bread. It says to stretch out and let it set for 30 minutes... it EXPANDS so make it big!!

Soooooooo yummy! The kids loved them!
